Lines made his debut for Bedfordshire against Buckinghamshire in the 1980 Minor Counties Championship. He played Minor counties cricket for Bedfordshire from 1980 to 1990, making 51 Minor Counties Championship appearances and 6 MCCA Knockout Trophy appearances. He made his List A debut against Somerset in the 1982 NatWest Trophy. He was dismissed for a single run by Hallam Moseley in Bedfordshire’s innings, while with the ball he took the wickets of Peter Roebuck, Ian Botham and Nigel Popplewell for the cost of 28 runs from 10 overs. He made a further List A appearance against Gloucestershire in the 1985 NatWest Trophy.
