At the start of the film ‘The Teckman Mystery'(1954) (Phillip Chance (John Justin) is seated on a plane when a woman (Margaret Leighton) sits next to him which leads into an adventure for him. At the end of the film he’s on another plane when again a woman sits next to him but this is his real wife, actress Barbara Murray.

1952

During World War II, he was a Spitfire production test pilot and flying instructor. This led to him being offered the role of test pilot Philip Peel in Breaking the Sound Barrier (1952). However, he had no desire to fly professionally and never flew an aircraft in real life after 1945.
